Day By Day

One of my New Year's goals, was to write in my journal more often. While I won't be writing all the intimate details of my life here for the entire WORLD to read, I would like to make an effort to share a few of my personal thoughts, feelings, events and all of life's little enjoyments.

Yes, I am aware that I am awful at journal writing. It's not one of my many skills. Speaking of skills, I have a few thoughts on the subject.
1. I need more time to develop my other talents and skills.
2. I would love to be able to donate my time and or skills to help others.
3. Swayze is kicking butt with her swim skills. Scratch that. She kicks butt with all her skills.
4. I need more time to develop... Oh wait, I already said that one.
5. I think it bears repeating, I need more time to develop my skills.
I'm sure that #s 1 and 5 resonate within the souls of any mother with children ages 0-18yrs.

1 year ago today, at approximately 3:00pm I began a huge, daunting task. I went into labor with Swayze. I was at the pool, laying out in the hot sun, getting burnt to a crisp, when I started feeling the tightening in my abdomen. Umm... Here it comes! Ha. Think again. 24 hours.

Had a great weekend! Friday night we drove to Murray for the Utah Republican Pre-Convention BBQ. (What a bore!) The drive getting there was more riveting than the actual event. But what can you expect from Utah Republicans!? :) Just Teasing! I like to give Jeremy a hard time about his passion for politics. I'm not political... AT ALL!
Saturday, we picked up this gorgeous pine armoire my boss gave me. It looks fantastic in our living room. It will look even better when I get new shabby chic white slipcovers! **Wishing** Mid morning, I took Swayze to the splash pad in Highland for a playdate.  After I put her down I met Morganne for lunch... good times. Then we ended the evening with a surprise family date to the carnival, where I enjoyed some yummy annual strawberries and cream. Dee-Lish! Psst... I'll show you how to make your own soon!
Father's Day was great, too! I was able to pull off a surprise for Jeremy. He really wanted this artpiece, so when he came out of the shower, there it was propped up on the bed next to a card Swayze made for Daddy. All in all... Great Weekend. How was yours? Did you do anything fun?

Yeeks! It has been forever. I have been eternally busy. I say eternally, because I mean just that. I have been non stop busy, and will continue to stay busy. I think it fits.
Swayze is walking now! It's adorable. She throws her hands up in the air and teeters along. She can make it across a room now. She will be turning 1 in less than 2 weeks! ( One of the things I have been busy planning and working on.) We just love to watch her grow. On that note, it is also quite sad for me to observe her. She has really grown up fast. This last year flew by. She is starting to ween herself. Very disheartening for me. It's like, "Wait a second! I'm supposed to be the one to decide when you are ready to stop nursing." Control issues, maybe. Bittersweet, definitely.

Well, let's recap the last 2 day. Tuesday: Swayze started getting sick. I took her to the doctor, she has a slight ear infection in both ears. "Let's wait on the antibiotic and see how she is in a day or two." Wednesday: Swayze is fine, Mom is sick. Thursday: Everyone is fine. ;) Got a priceless snapshot of Swayze though.

Had a great Easter weekend. We had family pictures taken this weekend, courtesy of Rachel. I can't wait to see them myself. We had a joint family dinner on Sunday. Ham, scalloped potatoes, deviled eggs, rolls, salad, etc. I made the rolls, Lion House Rolls, to be exact. I also made the deviled eggs as well as the salad. Will post recipes. Swayze had lots of fun with her cousins. I had the idea to have everyone write a special message to Swayze, then I filled her eggs with it. So cute! I'm excited for this week because Jeremy is done with class for the semester. This semester seemed to drag on and on. So ready to be over!

Registration day! Yup, that's right. I am registered for fall semester at UVU. Could I really be serious about adding school to my already busy life?! I think the lack of sleep is making me off balance. ;) I went to dinner with Morganne tonight, a belated celebratory birthday dinner. She is so awesome! Why? Oh yeah, you may want details to that one... She gave the the cutest little bowls and a totally impractical but none the less awesome colander and a vintage looking kitchen timer with the best blue color I have ever seen from Anthropologie. Also, a pashmina from London. Sweet! We ate tapas style at The Copper Onion in SLC, where Swayze experimented with waving to anyone and everyone who would look at her, which being the only baby in the restaurant, was most everyone.

Fun weekend! Got a new kitchen rack for the kitchen. Looks great. Will look even better when I paint the kitchen. Swayze has been sleeping much better lately, which truly is a blessing. It seems just when I thought I had had enough and could not go another night, that's when she decided to sleep. I really think the Lord was listening in on my thoughts! ;) Swayze started sipping out of a sippy cup tonight, only by means of me coaxing her with applause.

Saturday April 9, 2011
Good morning! Had a wonderful breakfast today. Strawberry Cream Cheese Bruschetta (will post later.) Swayze enjoyed her first breakfast smoothie. Strawberry Banana. Yummy!

Is there a live away camp for moms? Ha. Some days I wish I could just run away, just for a week to re-coop. Do you ever feel that way? I often tease and say that as soon as I ween Swayze, I am booking a trip and leaving for a week or two. I won't even take Jeremy with me. :) This dream gets me through each day, even if it is ever just that...a DREAM.

This morning we drove to Springville to visit Jeremy's dad, who came into town from St. George. We visited for a bit then had breakfast over at the Cracker Barrell. Grandpa gave Swayze this cute little bear called "Peek a Boo Teddy" It plays peek a boo when you press the foot. Its laughs. So funny. Swayze loves it. So cute. At breakfast I had some yummy pancakes with bananas and honey. The pancakes were similar to Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Pancakes listed on the food section. Swayze enjoyed them too! She was so cute at breakfast, Grandpa would shake his head and she would shake it back. Adorable :) She learns new things so fast now. I can't believe she is 9 1/2 months now.

Theme for today, "If you want something done right ( or done at all for that matter) do it yourself!" Did I mention that I love Jeremy? Did I mention how great he is? Did I ever tell you that he is not the handiest man in the world? I am more "handy" than he is :) Anyhow, I have been after him for months to fix the holes in the living room wall. Yes, smack dab in the middle of the living room wall. Holes, that which by the way were created by him attempting to hang floating wall shelves back in August. Anyway, with spring cleaning now in session, I had enough! I bought some filler stuff and a putty knife, filled those bad boys up. Sanded and painted. Voila. 2 hours (including drying time.) Second project of the day was to fix the bathroom towel rack. This one was not his fault. Actually it was mine. ( My nickname is Reckless Abandonment, title of a song on Jeremy's ipod. Given, because I break EVERYTHING!) Well I re hung it. And that is about all. But the bathroom now looks so much better. Welcome back pretty hand towels :)

Thursday March 24, 2011

Swayze is 9 months today! Wow! She is getting so big. I love her so much. She had her 9 month check up today. She is 17.8 lbs, 27.5 inches long. Growing Strong! She unfortunately has another ear infection, 2nd in 2 months. Poor baby. But I actually found relief in this, because she had been so fussy the last few days. The night prior, she kept  me up all night. I got 3 hours of sleep. *sigh* So I was relieved to have an answer as to why my generally blissfully happy baby was out of sorts. So here is to a few more nights/days of pure craziness. Bless, her!

Wednesday March 23, 2011

Tonight I am excited to spend the evening with my younger brother Josh. He is in SLC studying at University of Utah, but is down here for Spring Break. Jeremy has a late class tonight, so I invited Josh over for a dinner/movie date. It's been a while since just the two of us hung out, (Baby Swayze will be in attendance, too) so I'm stoked. I think I will make Stuffed Feta Turkey Burgers. For dessert, I will definitely be going with Thin Mint Blizzards, Josh's fav Girl Scout cookie. I'll be sure to post the results later to the Food page. As far as the movie goes, I'm split. Golden Girls? The O.C? I have a large range of TV series. :)
